The Sölden Glacier and Winter Ski Area in Tyrol, Austria, attracts numerous visitors each year, especially skiers and winter sports enthusiasts. To manage the ski area's parking efficiently and conveniently, the cable car operator and Ötztal Tourism decided for Arivo’s digital, ticketless parking system.
Nestled in the Alps, the Sölden ski resort offers guests around 1,500 parking spaces at the base stations of the Giggijoch and Gaislachkogel lifts. Thanks to Arivo’s barrier-free and seamless technology, traffic flow is efficiently managed even during peak times, such as the end of ski operations, allowing all guests to exit quickly and smoothly. With approximately 50,000 parking operations per month, this is an essential feature.
In Sölden, the alpine conditions pose unique challenges due to high altitude and frequent snowfall. The valley, situated at around 1,400 meters, experiences an average of 51 snow days per year, resulting in over 600 cm of snow accumulation. Despite this, Arivo’s system reliably reads license plates and manages over 1,700 parking transactions daily for guests from more than ten countries. Reflecting the resort’s international clientele, 85% of cashless payments are made with foreign cards.
For visitors, the advanced parking system offers seamless convenience without requiring tickets or waiting at entry points—just park and enjoy a stress-free day on the slopes.
Fokus Focus on Customer Friendliness and Minimal Effort
Even without physical barriers, the rate of non-payers is minimized. Clear signage at entry points and intuitive payment options—from cashless kiosks to smartphone payments via Arivo Pay—address this challenge effectively. Alternatively, guests can use the short-stay app, Parkster.
Exit displays inform drivers whether their parking fees have been settled. If not, they have up to 48 hours to complete payment online.
Additionally, guests at selected nearby hotels enjoy free parking until check-out; hotel staff only need to record the guest's license plate and departure date in the Arivo Hotel App.
Successful Recommendations
Auf Following Sölden Mountain Lifts’ recommendation, the nearby Aqua Dome thermal spa recently adopted Arivo's free-flow system. This barrier-free convenience is now available beyond skiing guests, enhancing the experience for all visitors.
