Frankfurt Airport‘s Cargo City South spans across an impressive 98 hectares. This location enjoys global recognition as a hub for freight forwarders, cargo airlines, and cargo traders. On a daily basis, between 1,500 and 1,800 visitors flock to Cargo City South, benefiting from a streamlined and expedited registration process thanks to Arivo‘s innovative digital solution.
In line with Fraport AG‘s digitalization strategy, the „Digital Factory“ was established in 2020. Its mission? To find an automated solution for opening the gates at Cargo City South, specifically Gates 31 and 32.
Previously, unregistered visitors had to go through the cumbersome process of registering at the visitor booth and obtaining a key card to access these gates. This time-consuming procedure was targeted for automation through a new project, and Arivo was chosen as the project partner to make it happen.

Bei der Einfahrt wird das Kennzeichen durch die Now, as visitors arrive, the Arivo licence plate recognition system effortlessly captures their license plate number, automatically raising the barrier. Before entering, visitors only need to provide their name, planned arrival time, and license plate number on the dedicated registration page designed for Cargo City South. Access is granted within a three-hour window, either before or after the specified time.
Time-saving and short response times
With no need to deal with key cards anymore, the new Arivo system not only proves user-friendly but, more importantly, a significant time-saver. Thanks to Arivo‘s agility and swift response, the project was executed seamlessly and without delay.
